A Day at the Park

My kids lead with their heads.

This is a week in the lives of my children. They are slow to learn the "hard knocks" of life.

Family Update

Here's what has been happening the last couple of weeks at our house.

Brock started speech therapy at his preschool twice a week. He has difficulty with words that begin with two consonants in front, such as speech, shout, spaghetti etc. They are starting with the "sp" words and getting him used to the class. So far, all is going well and it's a least a year-long process especially since they take the summers off. We have a little homework to do which is having him listen to certain words each night. Brock has also picked up some stuttering which according to our speech therapist is because his vocabulary is large and he can't always seem to find the right words to say.

Brock had his first dentist appointment in January. I laid on the dentist chair, then Brock on top of me, and then Brock's teddy bear, Jeff, was on top of him. Brock did really well (Jeff too) with the cleaning but he was not interested at all with x-rays. He is now excited to brush his teeth and he talks about the dentist all the time.

Lynzy is feisty as ever. She talks to me like Brock does. She doesn't necessarily have the words but her tone and inflection when she talks is as if she is 3 years old. She is notorious for getting herself hurt somewhere on her face. Which as a side note, in an earlier post, Lynzy's shiner is due to her falling off a chair. That time she was sitting down and we have no clue what she hit that gave her the black eye. She makes me smile when she wakes up in the am or after a nap and cries out MOMMY! MOM! with a super happy disposition.

Wesley has been playing basketball this season. He is one of the tallest kids playing. He is working on his free throws and he is really agressive (in a good way) this season. It is a lot of fun to watch him. Brock loves going to his games. We tell Wesley he has a mini fan club with our family.

Our house has shrunk. We purchased our home with 4 bedrooms, 2 bath plus a guest house. We used to occupy every room in the house including the guest house. We have since rented out our guest house and closed off our master bedroom for repairs. Actually, it has been approved for DEMOLITION! Our master bedroom was never permitted nor built correctly. The roof has leaked since the year we bought the house and it has been a pain ever since. Finally, we just decided that minor repairs were not cutting it and we need to demo it and rebuild. Trick is where are the funds coming from? Anyone want to donate to our cause? Forgot to mention that our pool is out of commission too since the vinyl liner ripped to shreds. Looks like we will be going to the beach a lot this summer since there isn't a pool to dive into. So for the time being, we are sharing Lynzy's room with Lynzy. Good thing we all like each other. There is a lot of musical beds going on in our house but everyone seems to be getting enough sleep and are happy and healthy.

That's about it from our house.
